Curriculum vitae of Dr. Markus Fischer.

 

Markus Fischer, born in Old Europe, Germany. He received his Masters Degree (Dipl. Inf) in Computer Science and Business Administration from the University of Paderborn, Germany in 1998. His thesis was "Dynamic Load Balancing for Heterogeneous Parallel Environments" being presented at the PDPTA 98 conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. During his studies he joined the research group of Prof. Dr. Monien at the University of Paderborn (Massively Parallel Programming Environments) as a graduate research assistant (March 1994 - June 1995). This work involved the parallelization of ADA task and development of load balancing strategies based upon the application's runtime behavior. From August 1995 until June 1996 he spent one academic year abroad as a graduate student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He was offered a graduate research position with Prof. Dr. Jack Dongarra becoming a member of the Parallel Virtual Machine research group. PVM on Windows, PVM for high speed interconnects. Over the years visits to Myricom, USA and RWCP, Tsukuba, Japan. Program Commitee Member. HPC and Interconnect consultant. Distributed computing on Windows platforms.

Markus finished his PhD studies in Computer Science at the University of Mannheim in 2002. Advisor: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Bruening.

 

He received his Dr. rer. nat with "summa cum laude".
